Long xing quan/Dragon fist.
History: The founding of Dragon fist is attributed to Lam Yu Gwai (1874-1965) of Guangdong. According to the family legend, his grandfather sheltered a Shaolin monk named Huang Nian Jiao who fled to Guangzhou during the Qing dynasty. Grateful for his assistance the monk taught him Dragon style. Master Lam studied with his grandfather from childhood and reached a level of mastery high enough to teach by age 17.
He continued to train with his father until age 21, and then learned more Dragon from the abbot of Mong Fo Shan temple, Dai Yuk. Incorporating all these teachings, Lam breathed new life into this venerated style. It is still popular in Hong Kong and Canton, especially among the police, who prize it for its effective Chin Na restraint techniques.
