History: Jeet Kune Do, or the Way of the Intercepting Fist, was developed by Bruce Lee based on his wide study of martial arts. His intention was to create an approach to effective fighting art based on a set of principles and concepts. In creating JKD he drew from a wide variety of martial arts and fighting styles. His "melting pot" approach sought to take the best of every system and strip it down to the essence of sound technique to find what works. Bruce Lee himself eschewed calling JKD a style, considering it instead an art form, a philosophy, and many today refer to his methods and ideas as JKD concepts.
