WU TAI JI QUAN

WU TAI JI QUAN

History: Wu Jian Quan (1870-1942) was the founder of what is now known as Wu style Taijiquan. His father, Quan You, had learned the large form of Yang Taiji from Yang Luchan, and subsequently the small form of Yang style from Yang Luchan's son Yang Jianhou. He passed on his Taiji knowledge to his son, and later on the basis of the small form of Yang style Taiji, Wu Jian Quan created Wu style Taiji.

Contrasting with Chen and yang style Taijiquan, Wu style has a small frame where the feet are closer together and the circular movements of the arms are closer to the body. Wu style is also highly internal, characterized by large internal and small external movements together.
